My Story…
Hi!
I am participating this year's Shoppers Drug Mart Run/Walk for Women with my classmates from the faculty of nursing. The Run for Women is a fundraising event that occurs across all major cities in Canada and supports charities that provide women's mental health programs. The local, non-profit organization that the St. John's Run supports is Stella's Circle, particularly the Naomi Centre and the Just Us Women’s Centre. The Naomi Shelter is an emergency shelter for young women experiencing crises such as homelessness, domestic violence, and mental illness exacerbation. The Just Us Women's Centre offers programming and counselling for women experiencing concurrent mental illness and criminal justice background. The Shopper's Run for Women is a major funding source for Stella's Circle, and they have seen low registration numbers and fundraising amounts this year in comparison to previous years.
As a result, I am fundraising with my nursing faculty, and I have set a personal fundraising goal of $200. Any donation is greatly appreciated:)
