My Story…
I’m excited to be taking part in the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women in support of Women’s College Hospital and women’s mental health.
Running has always been a big part of my life. As some of you know, my health took an unexpected turn when I was a teenager, which sidelined me from running. My healthcare team wasn't sure if I’d ever get back to it in the same way. But as you also know, I am determined and just a few years ago, I ran a race in support of a good friend. Since then, I’ve made running a regular part of my life again, and I don’t take a single step for granted.
For me, running isn’t just about fitness, it’s a way for me to reset. Someone once told me, "you can change emotion with motion,” and that has really stuck. Whether I’m having a tough day or just need a pick-me-up (sometimes along with a good cookie), moving my feet almost always helps me feel better.
Which is why, supporting women’s mental health with a run feels like an opportunity to appreciate what running, and movement in general, has given me while also fundraising for a cause that I care about.
If you’re able to support—whether by donating or joining the run—I’d be grateful. Together, let’s use motion to make a difference!
