My Story…
Hi! In 2021, my Dad was diagnosed with stage IV renal cell cancer. Turns out we have this thing called HLRCC running in our family. It's a genetic condition that makes our cells work extra hard to make an enzyme called fumarate, and (research says) due to an interference with oxygen regulation, it increases our risk of kidney cancer. Fortunately, my Dad underwent timely surgery and treatment. He is now living his life in the ways he loves most: dancing salsa music, studying at university, and spending time with his grandchild. It was thanks to organizations like BC Cancer Foundation that we were able to get quick and high-quality care back in 2021. Let's keep making that possible for everyone battling cancer in 2026. The gift of life is precious - consider donating to my fundraiser if you want to celebrate it together!
