My Story…
Ever since I was a little kid trying to invite unhoused neighbors to share my bunk bed, I’ve cared deeply about homelessness. It's something our community needs to do better on.
That's why for this run, I am proud to support the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. They do life-saving work providing meals, warmth, and safety to women and children in need. Please consider donating to my page to help them continue their vital work.
Description
DEWC operates low-barrier drop-in centres and shelter services throughout the DTES, which offer safety, supportive surroundings, nutritious meals, and basic essentials to women of the community. We are now serving over 1200 women and their children 365 days per year, a number that keep growing every year.
Oftentimes, a hot nutritious meal is a gateway for the community's most vulnerable women to a continuum of holistic supports to improve her situation.
