Sistema Toronto Academy

Sistema Toronto provides music and social development programming to over 650 children and youth each year living in underserved communities across Toronto, with the goal of transformative social action.

Sistema Toronto is first and foremost a social development program, using ensemble-based music education to transform the lives of children. Students in the core program work together for up to 10 hours each week learning strings (violin, viola, cello, or double bass), percussion, choir, wind instruments, and Music & Movement, while developing important life skills like problem solving, empathy, and self-advocacy. When students graduate from our intensive core program, they have the opportunity to return to their centre each week to volunteer and be part of our Honours Youth Orchestra. 

We build stronger communities by enabling children and youth from underserved communities to grow and thrive as engaged citizens and future leaders.
