Why I'm raising funds to rescue cats and kittens in need...
Hi, this is my first (and probably only) time running a full marathon! The total distance I'll be running is 42.2km so my goal is to raise at least $200 ($5 per kilometre) for a good cause, the Toronto Cat Rescue. If 40 people donated $5 / 20 people donated $10, we could reach this goal!
To put into perspective, 42.2km is about the distance between Brampton Civic Hospital (2100 Bovaird Dr E, Brampton), and Exhibition Place (100 Princes' Blvd, Toronto), where they host the CNE and Toronto FC soccer matches.
Wow, it's so far to run!
I had appendicitis and an appendectomy (surgery) in June earlier this year. After a month of recovery, I was able to actually start training for the marathon. I've discovered a renewed appreciation for being able to move my body. I'm thankful for the opportunity to attempt this marathon, and run for an amazing cause like the Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR).
I would love to do a sub 5:30:00 time, but will be really proud of myself for finishing a marathon at all!
Donations are not mandatory for me to participate but are greatly appreciated. They go towards the TCR. I adopted Binoo, my cat, from Mississauga Animal Services, but know these funds would go a long way to support any cat related shelter.
