Deciding which charity I wanted to support started off difficult. I knew I wanted the donations to be impactful for someone like myself, after reflecting on the services that felt suitable, I decided it was CAMH. 

After having battled with my own mental health and addictions from 2021-2024, I noticed many services are targeted at youth and young adults. 

CAMH supports all ages groups and genders this includes adult men a population that is facing a mental health crisis, yet often has slipped through the cracks of service providers. 

CAMH's Mission: We are dedicated to patient, family and community well-being. We improve access to integrated care, answer the most difficult questions about mental illness and remove barriers to belonging.
Together, we choose hope.

Some stats: Men face a disproportionate crisis in mental health, with suicide rates approximately three to four times higher than women, accounting for nearly 75% of all suicide deaths in countries like Canada, the US, and the UK. Roughly 8 men die by suicide daily in Canada. 

These stats are the reason I have chosen to support CAMH as it continues to support patients in various capacities to manage mental health and addictions, both by reducing wait times and improving the quality of care. In addition to training the future of Mental health professionals that will support my community.
