Join me and make a difference in childhood cancer!
I’m running in support of POGO because my family experienced firsthand how much they do for children battling cancer and the families beside them.
After my daughter Emma was diagnosed with cancer in January 2025, POGO became a huge part of our lives throughout her treatment. From weekly visits to the POGO clinic at Centenary Hospital, to financial assistance with some of the additional expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis, their support reached far beyond just medical treatment.
Our POGO Interlink nurse visited our home to help Emma and our oldest daughter, Clara, understand and navigate what a cancer diagnosis meant for our family. She also visited both of their classrooms to help their classmates understand what Emma was going through, while providing teachers and school administrators with the resources they needed to keep Emma safe and support both of our daughters throughout her treatment.
POGO helps families navigate some of the hardest moments imaginable, and this marathon is my way of giving back and helping ensure that other families facing childhood cancer—now and in the future—have access to that same support.
Description

There are over 4,300 families in Ontario with a child in cancer treatment or follow-up care each year. More than 80% of children diagnosed with cancer in Ontario will survive, but many of these survivors will experience complications either due to the disease itself, complex surgical procedures, or the rigorous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy they were given during treatment.
Funds raised will provide:
- financial assistance to families so they can pay for out-of-pocket costs associated with their child’s treatment
- support survivors with customized school and work counselling when their disease or its treatment has left them with learning challenges
- fund promising research that examines the impact of childhood cancer and its treatment.
Meet the Wynette’s and learn how they were supported by POGO through their childhood cancer journey.
Thank you for your support!
