My Story…
On October 18, 2026 I will be running the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon to support people living with serious mental illness, a cause that is deeply personal to my family and friends.
I am writing to ask you to consider making a charitable donation to Eli's Place, a residential treatment centre for young adults suffering from serious mental illness.
For many of the 160,000 young adults in Ontario with serious mental illness, traditional clinical therapy is not enough. Lacking access to long-term, holistic residential care, these young adults cycle in and out of acute care in hospital Emergency Rooms. The threat of suicide is real, with more than 1 in 7 reporting suicidal ideation.
Eli's place, the first residential treatment centre of its kind in Ontario, will be a farm-based residential treatment centre helping young adults age 18-35 who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, mood disorders & related mental health challenges.
Eli's place is poised to open in Guelph in November of 2026.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
Description
There’s a real gap in our mental health system for young adults living with serious mental illness, and Eli’s Place is here to help fill it.
Eli's Place is a working farm where every part of life is designed to support recovery. For young adults living with serious mental illness and the people who care about them, it is the only long-term therapeutic community in Canada that integrates clinical care, meaningful work and belonging into everyday life.
That combination is what sets Eli's Place apart. Guests do not simply receive treatment and leave. They join a community where clinical care, work that matters and genuine belonging are part of the same daily life, with support that continues beyond their time in residence. The approach draws on a proven farm-based model with more than a century of results, now brought to Canada for the first time.
Your contribution helps make this possible. If you’re able, I’d be truly grateful for your support. Any amount helps young adults with serious mental illness build a life worth living.
