I’m running the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon to raise funds for Jamii. Donate to support free arts and community programs.

Hi - Sakari here! I always have a lot to say, so Mum said I should put my awoo's to good use here instead, so listen up, friends! I heard we're going for not just a walk, but a Super Long Walk?! AND with my Samoyed buddies?! Yes PLEASE - I am READY!

Mum says we're fundraising so that more people can have access to art programs. Growing up, she said she used to be in choir, orchestra, and band (all at the same time!), and did grandma-things like crafting with her friends, and would have loved to join free workshops like the ones Jamii hosts for anyone who wants to join, so that money isn't the issue that prevents someone from accessing art! She told me she also attended music therapy sessions while volunteering at children camps and that it's so essential for everyone to have an outlet to be creative and expressive!

My half-sister Omelette goes to work with her mom at Jamii to join in on the fun and while I'm more of an introvert, I'm so proud of her for being an awesome Samoyed-ambassador to all of Jamii's friends! I hope that together with my fluffy crew, we can fundraise to trot around Toronto and awooOoOo our way to helping Jamii help more friends learn new skills and unleash their creativity!

Description

Thank you for supporting Jamii, a Toronto arts organization celebrating its 15th year of bringing people together through free arts programs, community events, and shared creative experiences.

At a time when the cost of living is high and many people are feeling isolated or overwhelmed, community spaces like The Jamii Hub are more important than ever. The Jamii Hub is a welcoming community space on The Esplanade and a third space for many people. It is a place outside of home and work where children, youth, adults, and older adults can gather, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

Your donation helps keep Jamii’s programs free and supports a space where people can build community, express themselves, and access the arts in an inclusive and meaningful way. By donating, you’re also cheering on the runners like me as we take on this marathon in support of Jamii’s work.

Thank you for supporting my fundraiser and helping Jamii continue this meaningful work.
