I am excited to participate in the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon this year! I am a first time runner, thrilled at the idea of challenging myself and looking forward to making a difference. This year I am running for a cause.. for a purpose…for something I hold dear to my heart.

Many of you may know that I am a Paramedic. This year had greatly impacted us as we have lost one of our own. A friend. A colleague. An amazing individual who had battled day in and day out with the challenges faced from cystic fibrosis.

What is cystic fibrosis? Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, making everyday activities a challenge for those who live with it. Every day, people living with cystic fibrosis face a relentless cycle of treatments, medications, and hospital visits just to maintain their health. CF is the most common fatal disease affecting Canadian children and young adults, with approximately. 4400 Canadians diagnosed.

While there has been incredible progress in recent years, there is still no cure. Many individuals and families continue to fight this disease with strength and resilience, but they can’t do it alone.

I am running for Elliot. For a friend who dealt with the challenges of CF and still wore a smile on his face. Someone who didn’t let the difficulties of life stop him from achieving his dreams. He showed up everyday with joy and determination. With a fire and passion for his career and trying to live his life to the fullest. And he succeeded. So I am running for him and I am going to continue with his same fire and passion in hope to make some change. For a future less impacted by CF. 

This run is more than just a race. It’s a chance to come together as a community, raise awareness, and support life-changing research and care for those affected by cystic fibrosis.
