My Story…
Hey everyone, my name is Jaden AKA “jayu.fit” and I’ll be fundraising in honour of my lola (grandma) who battled & beat breast cancer, one of the strongest women I know.
As a personal trainer and advocate for fitness, health, and wellness, I’ve had the honour of learning/understanding the impacts of what fighting breast cancer comes with. Being in a space where clients open up about their personal experiences with family & breast cancer, as well as their own personal battles with breast cancer, I was able to see both the mental and physical battle it creates for multiple lives. The time and energy that goes into this battle and the amount of courage that these women and their families face, will always be something that stands out to me because it remind me of one of the reasons I got into the fitness & health space — helping to connect your purpose to your goal while creating community.
Never would I have thought that I, myself, would experience this personally. When my lola (grandma) brought this news to me and my family, it was heartbreaking. But what was ironic was the person who had to deal with the treatment, the pain, and all of the negatives that come with breast cancer, was also the person who displayed the most hope, courage and compassion to me and my family.
This 5k is only a tiny amount of what strength, courage, and support I can show to not just my lola (grandma), but to the community of lives that experienced the effects and life changing outcomes of breast cancer.
I only ask for a donation if you have the means and are comfortable with donating. Otherwise, my goal is to be a support/voice for breast cancer and display the strength that my lola (grandma) showed myself and our family during her treatment.
If you’d like to support my fitness journey and see the events leading up to the race, you can find me on Instagram @jayu.fit 🖤
