My Story…
Growing up deaf, it has been frustrating that so many things I want to watch are not accessible, even movies. So I appreciate that TPM has accessible performances.
One of my former preschool teachers, from the Happy Hands school at the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf, even performed here (Ultrasound by Deaf playwright Adam Pottle, 2016) and was Associate Director of the Deaf-led adaptation of The Little Prince by Landon Krentz (2025).
I volunteered at Theatre Passe Muraille in high school it is one of the few theatres that often has deaf-led performances and captioned performances (I need captions to be able to access a performance).
We're doing this accessible 5km race to raise money to make Theatre Passe Muraille even more accessible, through live captioning, ASL interpreters, audio description, accessible transportation, and more.
Description
Theatre Passe Muraille loves getting outside of our building and into the streets, making our theatre accessible to all. We're excited to bring an inclusive team to the 5km event, encouraging the communities we embrace to walk and wheel along with us. People with disabilities joining our 5km team may qualify for registration fee support. Whether you're going 5km or the full 42, every participant who chooses TPM as their charity will receive two free tickets to any show that's part of our 2026-27 season!
