My Story…
🏃♀️ Running for a cause that has been there for survivors for more than 50 years.
The Toronto Rape Crisis Centre (TRCC) was established on February 14, 1974, and began as a volunteer-run organization. For more than five decades, TRCC has continued to provide support, advocacy, education, and resources for survivors of sexual violence—while adapting to the changing needs of Toronto’s diverse communities.
Its history is one of resilience. Over the course of the last 50 years, TRCC has successfully:
- Provided crisis support, counselling, advocacy, and education
- Developed resources and training for hospital staff supporting survivors of sexual assault
- Worked to improve accessibility for people facing physical, cultural, and linguistic barriers
- Developed multicultural programming to better reflect Toronto's diverse communities
- Collaborated with legal and social-service professionals to improve support for survivors
- Created spaces and programs that bring the community together
This history was built through the dedication of volunteers, staff, community members, and supporters — often during periods of significant financial and organizational challenges.
There have been obstacles, resistance, conflict, and difficult periods along the way—but the commitment to supporting survivors and working toward the eradication of sexual violence has remained.
If you’re able to contribute, every donation helps support the continued work of TRCC. 🏃♂️
Every donation helps contribute to the vital work of an organization that has been part of Toronto’s community for over 50 years.
If donating isn’t possible, sharing this link is another meaningful way to help spread the word.

Support our TRCC/MWAR Fundraisers as they challenge themselves at the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon this fall!
In 2026, The Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape is celebrating 52 years, working towards a free world of sexual violence.
We are celebrating Resilience, Empowerment, Healing and Reclaiming the power of our lives.
With your donation, you are helping to create a world free of violence. You are connecting a survivor with much needed care. You are creating hope for a survivor. You are giving a survivor a second chance at life.
This year, the theme is “Someone You Know” to recognize all survivors and call in allies. Someone You Know is a survivor of gender-based violence, sexual violence, and/or state violence. You are a survivor who deserves community, care, support, and liberation from gender-based and sexual violence.
