My Story…
This October, I'm running the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon: 42.2 km through the city I grew up in, to raise money for Daily Bread Food Bank.
I've spent time training for endurance events, but this one means more than a finish line. I've volunteered at food banks before, and what's stayed with me is how much they carry for a community. Not just food, but dignity, stability, a sense that someone's got your back on a hard week.
That need has never been greater. Today, more than 1 in 10 Torontonians rely on food banks, and visits hit 4.1 million this past year, a 340% increase since 2019. Behind every one of those numbers is someone's parent, neighbour, or classmate.
So this run is my way of turning a personal challenge into something bigger than me. Every kilometre I run, I want it to mean something beyond myself.
Any donation, big or small, gets me closer to my goal and gets Daily Bread closer to theirs. Thank you for being part of it. πββοΈβ€οΈ
