Some places stay with you long after you leave them. For me, SickKids is one of those places. As a teenager, I spent time there during a difficult period in my life, and years later, I still carry a deep appreciation for the people who cared for me. This October, as I take on the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to a place that has had a lasting impact on me.

My time at SickKids left me with a lasting appreciation for the nurses and doctors who care for patients and their families during difficult times. Their work extends beyond treatment; it is also about offering reassurance, showing compassion, and helping people navigate uncertainty.

Training for a marathon has reminded me of the value of consistency and taking things one step at a time. Progress rarely happens overnight, and some days are harder than others. But every run is an opportunity to keep moving forward, just as every contribution to SickKids can help support the care and well-being of children and families.

I am grateful for the healthcare professionals who dedicate themselves to making a difference in the lives of others, and I hope to contribute in some small way to their work.
