My Story…
This year, the GUF team is taking on the Under Armour Eastside 10K to raise funds for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC).
For more than 45 years, DEWC has provided a safe and supportive space for women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, offering essential services such as meals, shelter, advocacy, housing support, and community programs.
At GUF, we believe in the power of strength, resilience, and community. By participating in the Under Armour Eastside 10K, we're combining our love of movement with a cause that aligns closely with our values—supporting women and helping create opportunities for safety, dignity, and empowerment.

Description
DEWC operates low-barrier drop-in centres and shelter services throughout the DTES, which offer safety, supportive surroundings, nutritious meals, and basic essentials to women of the community. We are now serving over 1200 women and their children 365 days per year, a number that keep growing every year.
Oftentimes, a hot nutritious meal is a gateway for the community's most vulnerable women to a continuum of holistic supports to improve her situation.
