Our story…
Since 1978, the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre has provided a safe space for women and children in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. We provide practical support, basic necessities and hot nutritious meals to over 1000 women and children every day. Throughout our 5 service sites, and thanks to our wide array of services, we support women to make positive changes in their lives by connecting them to a continuum of services including outreach, advocacy, wellness, recreation, housing and skills development.
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $10 or more.
Description
DEWC operates low-barrier drop-in centres and shelter services throughout the DTES, which offer safety, supportive surroundings, nutritious meals, and basic essentials to women of the community. We are now serving over 1200 women and their children 365 days per year, a number that keep growing every year.
Oftentimes, a hot nutritious meal is a gateway for the community's most vulnerable women to a continuum of holistic supports to improve her situation.
