My Story…
Hello and welcome to my fundraising page. For those who do not know me let me introduce myself. My name is Liana and I am a runner that started in my early 30's. Over a year running with a club (QRC) and tracking my runs. I'm excited to share that I am running the Pride and Remembrance run for their 30th anniversary. Last year's race was my 1st 5km road race in loving memory of Tino, who was not only my supervisor but also a friend who was there for me when times were tough.
I've always been the sporty/athletic type but would never have imagined one day calling myself a runner. I was more field than track in high-school (I miss my shot put days) . My running journey is only on its first few chapters and while I've accomplished a lot within this time frame I also have a lot to learn. Each run, whether in a group or solo I learn every day. I hope to one day inspire others to run or to go a further distance than they ever imagined. I found pride in myself by running by showing up (and showing out!) I was surprised in what I was capable of doing especially to start something new later in life. I found confidence that was just waiting to come out. I would previously hide my body or do things to not draw attention to myself especially since I...developed... faster than most girls my age and was made fun of for it. I feel that no matter your age or body type that running is for you. It was the final corral runners that caught my eye (and stole my heart) the first time I saw the Pride Run in Toronto. The strength, resilience and determination is what I saw shine ✨️ and I hoped to one day join them. Now look at me...1st 5km (June 2025)- 1st half-marathon (Oct 2025). Yes, I've had to take a step back since I got injured (5-6months ago) but I'm working my way back up 🎢
