My Story…
Why I’m Running
I signed up for the Pride & Remembrance Run this year knowing one thing for sure - I am not a runner… at least, not yet.
Running has always been one of those things I’ve wanted to be. I love how it feels when I actually do it - the clarity, the energy, the sense of pushing past my own limits. But consistency? That’s been the challenge. The mental game, even more so.
So this is me deciding to lean into that challenge instead of avoiding it.
I’m starting this training pretty much from scratch, alongside an incredible group - Queer Run Club Toronto - where over 100 of us will be showing up, supporting each other, and building something bigger than just a race.
But this isn’t just about running a 5K. It’s about showing up for my community.
This year, I’m raising funds in support of organizations doing deeply important work for 2SLGBTQ+ people in Toronto:
CANVAS Arts Action Programs, helping build safer, more inclusive schools for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth
Casey House, providing compassionate, stigma-free healthcare and essential daily meals for people living with and at risk of HIV
The 519, creating vital spaces, services, and connection for queer and trans communities across generations
Pride and Remembrance Foundation, which helps fund a wide range of programs and services supporting 2SLGBTQ+ communities across Canada
Together, these organizations are helping create a world where people are safer, healthier, and more connected - and that’s something I’m proud to run for.
If you’re able to support, thank you. If not, cheering me on is just as appreciated - I’ll need it.
Description
The pride & remembrance run is dedicated to lifting up and raising funds for important 2SLGBTQ+ programs in the GTA.
These 4 incredible non-profit organizations are doing amazing work in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The beneficiaries for this year’s run are: the 519, Casey House, Canvas Programs, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation.
You can find out more about these incredible organizations here.
It’s fast and easy to donate, and tax receipts will be issued for every donation over $20. Every donation matters, as we try to reach our goal of raising $350,000 this year! The projects and initiatives that these organizations are developing will make a difference to so many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and the community would be so grateful for your donation.
Thanks again for your support and run it forward!
