I’m running in my first ever Pride & Remembrance Run this June!

As a queer person, 2SLGBTQIA+ spaces have always meant a lot to me. They’re where I’ve found community, safety, joy, and connection - and where I’ve seen firsthand the resilience and care that exists within our community. I feel both deeply grateful and aware of the privilege I have to live openly as myself.

My workplace, Casey House, is also a beneficiary of this year’s run, which makes it even more meaningful. Casey House is a place where people belong. No one is turned away. It’s a space where people can show up as their full selves and be met with dignity, care, and respect.

We need more spaces like that.

Too often, 2SLGBTQIA+ people are turned away, overlooked, or stigmatized-especially those living at the intersections of multiple identities. That reality makes spaces like Casey House not just important, but essential.

In my role as a communications advisor, I support the Foundation’s events like David’s Disco, Set Smash Rally, and Art With Heart. They’re fun, vibrant, community-driven events that directly support compassionate client care.

I’ve seen how much heart it takes to create those moments and how generous people are-sponsors, donors, artists, attendees-showing up again and again because they believe in this work.

I think a lot about what it means to use our privilege in service of others-to show up, to advocate, and to support care that meets people where they are. So when I run in June, I’ll be thinking about all of that: the people, the stories, the care, and the spaces that have held me close.
