My Story
This September, we are running our first 10k marathon to raise money and awareness for Blanding Turtle conservation.
Blanding Turtle’s are an endangered species of turtle native to Canada, and they need our help to not go extinct.
From the Toronto Zoo’s Wildlife Conservancy page,
“In 2012, as few as 10 Blanding's turtles remained in what is now the Rouge National Urban Park, placing this freshwater species on the brink of disappearing from the region entirely - one of the many reasons your Toronto Zoo’s Blanding’s Turtle Headstart Program is a critical conservation initiative worth supporting.”
With the Oasis Zoo Run, they hope to raise funds for their Blanding Turtle conservation program, as well as breed and release 50 more individuals into the wild to help the species to recover and grow, adding to the 542+ individuals that they have already successfully released!

This year’s Oasis ZooRun is raising funds and awareness for Blanding’s Turtles!
With a fundraising goal of $110,000, every dollar raised will help support the Toronto Zoo’s Blanding’s Turtle Headstart Program and its new home inside the Community Conservation Centre.
By supporting my fundraising efforts, you’re helping provide a dedicated space where Blanding’s turtle eggs can be safely incubated and hatchlings cared for before they are released into the wild. This new space will also give Zoo guests the opportunity to see the hatchlings up close and learn firsthand about the vital conservation work happening at the Toronto Zoo.
