I am walking in the Candlelighters Go Gold Fun Run alongside my Topsail Elementary team to honor the unforgettable legacy of Kendrick, a cherished student whose courage touched us all. Though he lost his battle with cancer, Kendrick’s fierce, warrior spirit and bright smile remain deeply woven into the heart of our school community. Candlelighters was an organization he cared about and supported wholeheartedly, and by fundraising in his memory, I want to ensure that same beacon of hope continues to shine for other children and families facing their hardest fights. Kendrick taught us what it means to be truly brave, and with every step we take, we keep his legacy alive and carry his strength forward.
