My Story…
In 2010, our mom rapidly lost weight, was jaundiced, and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. After months of constantly changing eyeglass prescriptions, she finally got a scan that confirmed the worst: she had pancreatic cancer. Early September she was told she should get her affairs in order, because she wouldn't see Christmas.
She ended up living nearly two more years after her diagnosis. She got to see me get married, took a bucket list trip to Toronto to see the Blue Jays with her sisters, and tried to grab as much joy as she could. Unfortunately, the cancer eventually spread and she passed in May 2012. Mom's cancer was distributed throughout her pancreas and was slow moving, others aren't so fortunate. But there's hope through research: early detection, new drug treatments, and improved surgical techniques can and have been found. Survival rates are slowly rising for Pancreatic Cancer. Help us raise funds and awareness for this research!
