The Fifth Naparima Scout Group, founded in 1919, is the oldest Scout Group in the District of San Fernando and is proudly sponsored by the Susamachar Presbyterian Church on Carib Street, San Fernando. This event is geared towards promoting healthy lifestyles, having some fun while fundraising to support our Scouting programmes.
This 5K event caters for walkers, runners, cyclists and for the first time ruck sackers! Come WALK, RUN, RIDE or RUCKSACK with Fifth Naparima to support our young Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts as they raise funds for community service projects as well as local and international outdoor adventures!
If you participated in any one of our previous four 5K events in 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025 then you know the drill! This year we are back bigger and better and with something new and unique to the Scouting Fraternity!

The 5th Naparima Scout Group proudly invites Scout Groups from across Trinidad and Tobago to take part in the FIRST‑EVER 5th Naparima Scout Group Rucksack Challenge, an exciting, featured event of our 5th Annual Walk Run Ride 5K!
This special challenge combines fitness, endurance and stamina, giving Scouts a unique opportunity to test themselves while being part of one of our signature annual events.
Who can participate?
Cubs, Scouts, Venture Scouts, Girl Guides, Cadets, President's Award, Police Youth Clubs.
All Scout Groups throughout Trinidad and Tobago are welcome!

Course Map

Route for the 5K
- Assemble at Marabella South Secondary School.
- Proceed west along Tagore Avenue for 720m and turn south onto Park Lane, continue for another 380m (water stop here).
- Turn west onto Gopaul Circular Drive and continue for another 510m to Kenneth Drive.
- Turn east into Kenneth Drive and proceed east for 240m to Park Lane.
- Turn north onto Park Lane and proceed north for 70m, then turn east onto Tagore Avenue and proceed for 350m to Union Park East Road.
- Turn north onto Union Park East Road and continue for another 670m (water stop along the way), turn east onto Circular Drive and continue for another 500m.
- Turn south onto Gopaul Circular Drive and proceed for another 325m (water stop at corner), turn west onto Crooks Avenue and proceed for another 85m.
- Turn south onto 6th Street and proceed for another 230m, turn west onto Bayley Avenue and proceed for another 440m to Union Park East Road.
- Turn south onto Union Park East Road and proceed for 70m to Tagore Avenue.
- Turn east onto Tagore Avenue and proceed east for 410m to Marabella South Secondary entrance to complete the route.
Rucksack Challenge
Rucksack Challenge
This is 5th Naparima Scout Group 1st run of the 5k Rucksack Challenge. Open to ALL members of the Scouting fraternity, Girl Guides, President Award, Cadets, Police Youth Clubs, etc. Participants must complete a 5 km road course while carrying a weighted rucksack in accordance with safety regulations. All bags must be weighed before the start of the event.
ALL Backpacks Shall meet the following criteria:
- One (1) sturdy back-pack must be used for the event
- Must have two shoulder straps and a waist strap (no single-strap bags allowed)
- Must be capable of safely carrying assigned weight without tearing or failure
- Recommended: tactical, military-style, or reinforced hiking backpack
- The weight of the bag is included in the overall weight requirement
Official Rules & Packing Guidelines
Approved Items
- Water bottles or hydration packs (recommended primary weight source)
- Towels or clothing for padding
- Sealed food items such as rice, flour, or oats
- Books or notebooks (padded)
- Canned goods (secured and cushioned)
Prohibited Items
- Metal weights or dumbbells
- Rocks, gravel, or loose objects
- Sharp or pointed items
- Glass or breakable containers
- Any unstable or shifting load
Packing Requirements
- Weight must be positioned high and close to the back
- Contents must be evenly distributed
- Use soft materials to cushion hard items
- Rucksack must be tight, secure, and not bounce while moving
Safety & Compliance
- Stay hydrated throughout the event
- Maintain a steady pace
- Unsafe packs must be corrected before participation
- All rucksacks are subject to inspection
- Failure to comply may result in disqualification
Ride Rules
Please note the following rules and guidelines and ALL entrants for Ride Event:
- ALL cyclists MUST wear helmets and participants shall not be permitted to enter without a helmet.
- ALL bicycles shall be in roadworthy condition and 5th Naparima Scout Group shall NOT be held liable for any rider not obeying the rules of the road.
- NO ELECTRIC scooters or bicycles or ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSISTED scooters or bicycles shall be permitted.
