The Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute (CFTDI), in collaboration with Blue Lightning Aquatics (BLA), is pleased to invite swim clubs, schools, teams, individual swimmers and open water swimming enthusiasts to participate in the: CFTDI × BLA LIGHTNING 1000M OPEN WATER DASH.
The event will take place at Maracas Bay and will feature a fast paced 1,000 meter open water swimming challenge.
The 1000m Open Water Dash provides swimmers with the opportunity to test their speed, endurance, open water swimming ability and racing skills in a safe and professionally managed environment.
The event will feature three age categories, with separate male and female competition. The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive substantial cash prizes.

18 & Under | 19 - 35 | 36 & Over
A swimmer’s age will be determined as of 31 December 2026.Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian complete the required waiver and consent documentation.
WEATHER AND SAFETY
The safety and wellbeing of all participants, officials, volunteers and spectators is the highest priority. The race is subject to favourable weather and water conditions. Event Management reserves the right to delay, modify, suspend or cancel the race where weather, sea conditions or other circumstances present a safety concern.
