Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality among all races and both genders yet receives the least amout of federal funding for cancer research. The fund run is sponsored each year in honor of Brooke Ellefsen, who was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2016. All of the funds raised are donated to lung cancer research and awareness.
