Take a Ghostly Fun Run with your Dad!
We could not be more excited to share this weekend with you and your student!
During Dads weekend, students and their families will have the chance to participate in a range of activities....with the 5K Run/Walk scheduled for Sunday Morning, November 3, 2024! The event will take place at the University of Illinois Arboretum (1800 S. Lincoln Avenue) with check-in starting at 7:30am and the 5K Run/Walk starting at 9:00am.
Early Bird Registration ends soon so sign up today and receive $5 off your registration fee! Fee increases to $35 starting September 1st so don’t miss out on saving your dad money.
Prizes will be awarded including the Best Ghostly Fun Run Costume!
All participants that register on or before October 20th are guaranteed their shirt in the official 2024 Dad's 5K Race Shirt.
A limited number of race shirts may be available at the event. These shirts will be provided on a first come, first serve basis, and provided only as supplies last. Registrations after October 21st are not guaranteed a race shirt so don’t delay in getting your official 2024 Dad's 5K Race Shirt today!
Dads and Students - we have both Dad/Son and Dad/Daughter Teams. During the registration process you will be able to register as a team.

JOIN THE DADS!
The Illini Dads Association is a group of fathers (and father figures) of a University of Illinois student! If you’re a first-time U of I parent, you’re probably looking for resources to help you with your student’s transition to life as an Illini, and that’s where the Dads Association can help. We have a lot of experience helping families get acclimated to the University community and student life at Illinois.
So who is the Dads Association?
You are. Every father figure of a U of I student is granted membership in the Association automatically. If you subscribe to our mailing list, you’ll receive regular updates on campus activities, hints to help your student, and what the Illini Dads are doing in the campus community.
We Award Scholarships and Grants
Illini Dads is not only an information source ... we’re a philanthropic organization. We award in excess of $20,000 per year in grants to student organizations and in student scholarships. We have awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the years.
We Organize Dads Weekend
We are the primary sponsor and organizer of Dads Weekend, which is held in the fall each year on a football weekend. We have events throughout the weekend, including a pregame BBQ, specially priced football, basketball and hockey tickets, a Saturday night concert on campus, a 5k run and a Sunday brunch. Proceeds from these events fund our scholarship and grant programs.
We Anoint a King Dad
During Dads Weekend, we select and honor the King Dad. Students can nominate dads, and our board reviews all the nominations to choose one deserving individual who receives the royal treatment for the entire weekend, including a hotel room at the Union, breakfast with the Chancellor, luxury suite tickets to the football game with recognition on the field and on the Jumbotron during the game, tickets to all our events and swag.
