Georgia Aquarium’s 5K walk/run returns for its eighth year. Starting and finishing at some of the most recognizable landmarks in downtown Atlanta, this Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race Qualifier (in-person only) 3.1-mile course is a quick "out and back" run/jog/walk for all ages.
Can't make it downtown? There's a virtual option just for you! No matter where you live, we want you to run for the ocean.
Whether your motivation is running your first 5K, getting back in shape, preparing for the Peachtree Road Race or a longer distance race, by participating you'll make an impact on aquatic animal conservation.
All participants will receive:
- Runner's bib
- Drawstring bag
- Commemorative t-shirt
- Collectable themed finisher medal
All proceeds for the 5K go toward the Aquarium's research and conservation initiatives here at home and across the globe. This furthers the understanding of the ocean's animals to aid in their survival for generations to come.
All registrations are final. Participants may request to switch from the in-person race to the virtual race, or the virtual race to the in-person race, but must do so by February 25, 2025 at 11:59pm. A transfer fee of $1.95 plus applicable taxes applies. We're sorry, refunds are not provided.
The in-person race will be held rain, snow, or shine. However, the threat of lightning or extreme/severe weather in the area of the event start/finish or course, may delay the start or cancel the race. Strollers are allowed, dogs are prohibited.

For virtual participants unable to attend packet pick-up, your race packet will be shipped starting the week after the in-person race.
Parking is available for $5 at Georgia Aquarium’s parking deck on the morning of the 5K. Please use 246 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd NW Atlanta, GA 30313 on your navigation apps. NOTE: Participants parking at the Coca-Cola parking deck will be charged a full parking fee.
How to Receive the $5 Parking Rate:
- Leaving Before 10:00 AM: Pay at any pay machine or exit gate. Simply insert your ticket, and the rate will automatically show $5.
- Leaving Between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: You must pay at the exit gate and follow these steps:
- Do NOT insert your ticket into the machine right away. Doing so will charge the full rate.
- Instead, press the "Lost Ticket" button, and the screen will display the discounted $5 rate.
- If the machine shows the full rate, press "Cancel" first, then press "Lost Ticket" to receive the discount.
After 12:00 PM, all tickets and the Lost Ticket option will return to standard parking rates.
