My Story…
Jean Gormley and I have embarked upon a new endeavor and we need your support. On September 26th, we will ride in the Tour de Keys 100 supporting the MONROE ASSOCIATION FOR REMARCABLE CITIZENS (MARC). This 100 mile bike ride starts at Mile Marker 100 and ends in Key West. I have committed to match, dollar for dollar, the first $10,000 pledged to our effort.
Why are we doing this? Two reasons. The second and least important reason is to challenge ourselves. The first and most important reason is that the MARC is a valuable non-profit that is facing unprecedented financial pressures after the State of Florida reduced funding by $200,000. MARC serves approximately 100 intellectually disabled adults in Monroe County, providing housing, training, supported employment, life skills, vocational training, supported living community inclusion and transportation. It has two Group Homes in Key West and two Adult Day Training, one in Key West and one in Tavernier.
