My Story…

I am raising money in honour of my 16 year old nephew, Dawson Corbett, who has been waiting and praying for almost 4 years for his second kidney transplant. Dawson was born with kidney failure and when he was 4 years old he had his first transplant. Unfortunately, 8 years later, Dawson's transplanted kidney began failing and he now needs another transplant. As a result of his failing kidney, Dawson has been on peritoneal dialysis for two and a half years, meaning he has to be hooked up to a machine, which he nicknamed "Fred the Flusher", for 10 hours overnight, every night. While this machine is helping him to survive, it is only a temporary solution. Dawson has had to endure several surgeries, constant medications and trips to the hospital for monitoring, frequent absences from school, not to mention regular pain. In spite of all this, Dawson tries to look on the bright side and can always find a warm smile for you.
