What is the Race to Zero Carbon?
The Race to Zero Carbon is an open challenge from us at Footprint to Wings to each of the 50 states to race each other toward a net zero carbon economy. So far, New York and California are in the lead (with emissions of 8.1 and 9.2 metric tons of CO2 per year, respectively). Our own beautiful state of New Jersey is 14th in the running (with emissions of 12.5 metric tons of CO2 per year).
To win the Race to Zero Carbon, we need to develop strategies for reducing our emissions at the individual, community, and state levels. Our goal at FP2W is develop a "playbook" to do just this. And although we're proposing this challenge as a race, it's a contest where everybody wins.

How will this work?
The state is the ideal unit of competition. We have 50 of them. All unique. There can be red state solutions, blue state solutions, and wild card solutions toward reaching the goal of net zero carbon.
Each State Team is made up of players (You!) that coordinate at the household, club, corporate, school and local government levels to form specialized teams within the State Team, such as Team Solar, Team Divestment, etc. These special teams work together to achieve the sweet victory of a net zero carbon economy with the best quality of life. Just like any other team, success will come from the power of the players and the quality of their teamwork.

How can I get involved?
Talk to us. You’re probably already leading the charge in one or more of the plays that are part of the Race to Zero Carbon. Let’s talk about how to collaborate and support each other’s efforts.
Help financially. Our work is subsidized by us, and funded by members. In the next several months we will be rolling out key materials to clarify the strategy. We love brainstorming, researching, writing, and developing these materials, but it has taken thousands of unpaid hours and thousands of dollars to get to this point, and it will take thousands more to keep things going, growing, and improving. Join FP2W! We’re looking to build a strong team so we can realize the vision of creating an institution that brings out all that is excellent in people to win the Race to Zero Carbon. We are looking for people to join our merry band of carbon free coaches. Team players, team builders. Contact us at rezwan@fp2w.org.
