One year ago, June 2015, team captain Leigh Raymer was told she had malignant melanoma. Those words changed her life forever. Leigh and her husband Tyler just had their first child, Rory, and they were headed to summer vacation in Georgia. Summer vacation was postponed, and appointments were made at Fox Chase. The beginning of July, Leigh's 3mm melanoma was removed, but it had not gone to her lymph nodes. Six months later, in February 2016, Leigh felt a lump in her leg. The melanoma had come back. Still not to her lymph nodes, but in her lymphatic channels, Leigh started treatment for Stage 3 melanoma on May 12, 2016 at UPenn. Leigh, with family and friends, will be walking with hope to raise awareness of how important sunscreen and skin examinations are, and raising money to go towards research of melanoma.
