DR. SHUFELT'S KIDS TRIATHLON 2016

Dr. Shufelts Kids Triathlon is a fun event designed to encourage kids (ages 2 to 13) to be active and healthy while introducing them to the joy of triathlon. Our emphasis is on participation and having fun in a safe supportive environment.

Our race is capped at 250 participants and traditionally sells out so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment. Race day registration is not available. Online registration closes at 6PM on the Wednesday prior to race day. Register by July 1st for Custom Race Bib. TSHIRT DEADLINE: sign up by July 15th to get a T-shirt.

MAIN EVENT INFO

Kids races are the same as a regular triathlon; swim, bike and run in that order. Check out website under `Guide`which gives a step-by-step detailed account of what kids can expect. All distances are age appropriate and can be found on the website : http://kids.runnerslife.ca/guide.php

SWIM: Kids start the swim right at Beavermead beach. Goggles and flotation devices optional. Volunteers are there to help kids run or walk to the transition area and find their bike. We pride ourselves on our many, wonderful, energetic volunteers. They are there to help all children as parents are not allowed on course. This allows mom and dad to run along and cheer and take pictures.

BIKE: Again, volunteers help kids find their bike, get their helmet on and get them onto the course. After the bike course is completed, kids return to the transition area and drop their bike off (same place) and off to the run!

RUN: Once the run is completed, kids get to collect an awesome medal.

OTHER INFO

RESULTS - Chip timing provided by Splits Timing. Total elapsed time will be provided. Finishing times will be posted on site after each age group wave is completed. Final results will be available online at splitstiming.com.

PRIZES - Shortly after each age group wave we will give out prizes to our top 3 participants plus a few draw prizes too!

FOOD - A yummy post race meal is provided to all race participants. (but not for spectators so please come prepared!)

PLAY - The Peterborough Family Resource Centre provides an amazing kids play area that includes lots of fun stuff like face painting, toys, entertainment & activities!

Our race is in support of the Peterborough Family Resource centre - a valuable community based non-profit organization. They provide information and support to families from birth to age 6. PFRC offers a warm, caring supportive environment that recognizes the importance of family and healthy, happy children.
