Help us raise money

For participating in 2016 Living for Zachary HeartBeats Run

Our story…

At a free screening in Allen, my then 13 year old son Jackson was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve. It is an aortic valve that has only two leaflets, instead of three. It is congenital and develops during the early weeks of pregnancy and often runs in families. This had never been caught in any other physical that Jackson had previously had and he wasn't experiencing any signs or symptoms. We certainly didn't expect this news. We now know we have to monitor Jackson's valve throughout his lifetime as it may not be completely effective at stopping the blood from leaking back into the heart. The only test that picked up Jackson's heart defect was the echocardiogram. This is not done regularly in a doctor's office, but IS standard in a L4Z heart screening! Please help us raise money for this organization that has changed our lives and the lives of so many others! We need you!!!
