For participating in 8th Annual Alton Miles for Meso 5K Race & 3K Fun Run

Our story…

My mom passed away 4 years ago from an aggressive cancer called mesothelioma. Almost all mesothelioma cases share a single cause – exposure to asbestos. Before my mom’s illness, I had no idea asbestos was even still legal in this country, despite being banned in 55 others. Saturday, September 24, I am participating in ADAO’s 8th annual Miles for Meso Virtual Race. In solidarity with the 5k runners in Alton, Illinios, I will don my Miles for Meso shirt and walk several of my mom’s favorite local spots just as she always loved to do – with a bag in hand to collect trash along the way as she always did. I am proud to honor her life and memory in this way, and appreciate you taking the time to read my story and consider supporting my participation. Love, peace, and health, Emily
