Please support my son and I for the BIST 5 km run. An Acquired Brain Injury is the invisible injury that many people don't understand or acknowledge. People think because brain injury survivors look okay physically there is nothing wrong. The truth is they suffer cognitively, psychologically and emotionally and struggle everyday to try and normalize their lives. We as a society need to bring awareness about people with acquired brain injuries. We need to educate and implement support services for these survivors. My son has an acquired brain injury, a result of a motor vehicle accident 6 years ago. As a Mother it hurts me to watch him struggle everyday to regain his independence. Without community supports like the Brain Injury Society these survivors and their families would have no where to turn to for help.
