My Story
I have Thyroid Cancer. I was diagnosed 14 months ago. I had no symptoms, no Thyroid issues, or Thyroid cancer in my family history. My husband bet me to go for a physical. He came back healthy, I came back with lots of questions and uncertainties.
June 30, 2016 I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer, "the good cancer." They call it! July 20, 2016 I had surgery to remove my whole Thyroid, 2 parathyroids, and a neck dissection, with removal of 126 lymph nodes. Six weeks of recovery and a God awful salt free diet. I then started radiation for a week long treatment and 6 days in isolation all by myself.
A little history about your thyroid if you did not know. Your thyroid controls your metabolism, your thermometer in your body, hair loss, mood swings, and about everything else. Who knew! Your parathyroid which you have 4 in your body controls your calcium level in your body. I now take a pill every day for the rest of my life. This pill functions as my thyroid!
