Please join me in supporting Anova in its work to end violence against women. Every donation -- large or small -- helps Anova reach its overall goal of $60,000. Anova is the largest high-security shelter for abused women and their children in Canada. Two shelters, which never close, provide emergency and short term shelter, counselling and support free of charge. In the 2015-2016 fiscal year, 443 women with 186 children were admitted to escape family violence. These families stayed a total of 26,418 days free of charge. Shelter counselors answered 3,623 calls on the 24-hour Helpline and counseled 652 walk-in clients. Even so, last year Anova had to turn away an additional 154 women because of lack of shelter space! Monies raised from Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® ensure Anova's services always remain free of charge.
