My Story…
Hello everyone,
My story begins just before my third birthday. When I was in daycare, one of the caregivers thought I had a seizure. No one knew what my episodes were before that point.
In elementary school, I became seizure free, thanks to my neurologist. In 1997, we learned that this medication can destroy peripheral vision so I was taken off of it; the seizures returned.
Eventually my seizures turned nocturnal. That wasn't so bad, but the seizures were still very frequent.
A couple years ago, I got a new neurologist, Dr. Michelle Jones. She encouraged me to try all options. I was terrified of brain surgery, but after talking to the surgeon, Doctor Keith MacDougall, I made the decision to go through the surgical process.
Update: It's 1 year and counting since I've had the surgery now.
Raising money for Epilepsy is something I'm passionate about. I would appreciate the support. Thank you!
