Our story…
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As a board member for Family Shelter Service (FSS), I'm helping raise awareness by taking part in our upcoming run/walk on Sunday, October 29th that starts at 9 a.m. on the Midwestern University Campus in the Wellness and Recreation Center, Downers Grove.
This family-friendly and healthy activity -- a 10K run for the endurance athletes, a 5K run, or just a casual 5K walk with the family dog, not only raises awareness, but it also raises funds to help neighbors, family members, co-workers or friends escape the violence and embark on a brave new journey to self-empowerment.
