My Story…
Here we go again!!!!!! The best Mother's Days I know have started waking up at 5:30am and lacing up for the Sporting Life 10K for Camp Ooch. This might just be my favourite yet, because I think my 4 kids are all joining me this year!
On November 23, 2011 we were told our oldest son Jack had cancer. Two days later, on the oncology floor of Sick Kids Hospital, we were introduced to Camp Ooch. The in-hospital Ooch staff serenaded Jack with songs, did crafts with him, and helped remind us that he can still be just a kid, not only "a kid with cancer". Since those dark days over 5 years ago, Jack has completed treatment, enjoys a rich, active life as a busy 11 year old and looks forward to his two weeks of magic at Camp Ooch every summer.
For Jack, and all the amazing kids like him, we run this race. It is our small thank you to "Ooch" for taking some of the "Ouch" out of cancer.

Help send kids affected by cancer to Camp Ooch!
Camp Oochigeas (Ooch) provides children with and affected by childhood cancer with what they need most – the chance to be a kid. Ooch is the only residential camp in Ontario to offer on-site IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions providing access to campers in active treatment the friendship and fun of Camp. Operating 365 days a year, Ooch offers programs at a residential camp in Muskoka, at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), three other regional cancer centres and at Ooch Downtown in the heart of Toronto.
As a registered charity that receives no government funding, Ooch relies exclusively on the generous support of fundraisers, individual and corporate donors like you.
