Volunteer Role Descriptions

COURSE SET-UP

The course set-up crew is responsible for setting up kilometer markers and pilons along the race course.


 

HOSTS

The hosts will stand close to the arena opening in order to direct people AND answer questions immediately upon entering the arena, so as to alleviate any confusion once further inside the arena.


 

BIB PICKUP

As participants arrive, you will find their bib number by last name from our filing system


 

SHIRT DISTRIBUTION

After participants have received their bibs they will pick up their race shirts.  Shirt distributors will assist participants in finding their shirt size.


BAG CHECK

Participants will have the option to check their belongings in the arena.  Beg check attendants will organize our bag check area by tagging participants belongings with cooresponding bib numbers and again after the race to pick up their belongings.


 

SAME DAY REGISTRATION

Some participants will show up and have not yet registered for the race.  Our same day registration assistants will aid participants to get them registered for the event by filling out forms and passing along information to our timing team. 

 


PARKING OFFICIALS

As we do not allow parking at Coronation arena, we will instruct people to park at Westdale Secondary School.  Our parking officials will help to efficiently park our participants  We will also station people at our road closure areas to direct them to park at Westdale Secondary School.


 

SHUTTLE GUIDES

Your role is to “pump” people up about the race.  Explain both the timing of the major events and that there will be a shuttle service available throughout the morning to transport people back to their cars. 


SNACK BOOTH

Snacks will be available post race for all our participants.  Snack booth attendants will hand out snacks as participants come through.


 

WATER STATION

We have 2 water stations available thorughout the course for our 5k and 10k runners.  There will be a gatorade jug at the station and attendants will fill up cups to make them available on the table for the runners.  You are also encouraged to hand the cups out as runners come by so they don't have to stop at the table.  


 

COURSE MARSHALL

Course marshalls will be stationed throughout the course to ensure that runners are going in the direction


 

FOOT TRAFFIC CONTROL

Our foot traffic control team will help direct participants as needed through out the race and answer any questions they may have.


 

MEDAL DISTRIBUTION

All participants will receive a medal for their participation.  Medal distributors will stand at the start/finish line to hand out medals to each participant as they finish their evens.


 

AWARD DISTRIBUTION

We will have prizes for the winners of each age category of each event.  Award distributors will facilitate with fast retrieval of prizes as participants are called.
