Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis (WIC) is a community-based organization providing a continuum of services to women and their children who have experienced abuse and sexual or domestic violence.

Over the last 40 years we have continued to evolve to meet the demands of not just the Guelph Community, but Wellington County as well. We are unique in the province by operating fully integrated services including:

• Marianne's Place (accessible emergency shelter)
• Transitional and Housing Support Program
• 24-hour Crisis Line
• Family Court Support Program
• Human Trafficking
• Sexual Assault Centre
• Rural Women’s Support Program
• Public Education
• Volunteer Program

These free and accessible programs and services include: risk assessments, safety planning, emergency shelter, community referrals, individual counselling, group programming, workshops, accompaniments, housing and legal support, advocacy and public education.

Our agency was recognized with the Award of Distinction for Victim Services from the Ministry of the Attorney General in 2010. WIC is both respected and influential within the community and trusted by women. We are community builders, taking part in vital committees voicing the concerns of women and educators promoting early intervention as one of the most effective strategies in breaking the cycle of violence. But most importantly we are a place for women and their children to seek shelter from the storms of their lives. Each year we provide support to more than 1,500 women and over 100 children, and we handle over 3,000 calls to our 24-hour Crisis Line. On average, WIC volunteers and staff donate over 9,000 hours every year supporting our programs and public education events.
