Help Anne raise money

I am honoured to take on this challenge and raise awareness and funds in support of Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. Half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16. 67% of Canadians say they have personally known at least one woman who has experienced physical or sexual abuse. It’s insidious and doesn’t discriminate – this type of violence can occur regardless of socio-economic status, intellect, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, and/or abilities; and it can happen at home, at school, or in the workplace. I wanted to find something truly significant. An immense personal challenge with sufficient magnitude to honour all those who have experienced and persevered through domestic violence, sexual assault and harassment. An event where participants use their mental, physical and emotional grit to endure through pain and exhaustion, and, with the help of a truly supportive community, complete each stage in a difficult process. ENDURrun is an apropos tribute. 8 days. 7 Stages. 160 km. 1 Tough Runner. By participating in this event, I hope to commemorate all those who have endured abuse and significant hardship; those who maintained hope and a commitment to themselves and their children to survive; those who had the immense courage to escape violence, leave an abusive partner, or confront an abuser in court; those who suffered a derailed career; and those who could not run outside because they lived in fear of a stalker. I also hope to commend those with the patience, skills and compassion to help victims of this type of violence. Please join me in raising awareness and funds for Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis.
