Working for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre (DEWC) in 2016, I got to witness first-hand the impact that the DEWC has in the Downtown Eastside community. I was constantly inspired by the strength, will, and sisterhood displayed by DEWC women and I feel honoured to have had the opportunity to listen to the stories of resilience, friendship, adversity, and empowerment that define the Centre. Every person has a right to safe space, essential needs, and a community that cares and empowers. With cis and transgender women making up over 40% of the DTES population, DEWC plays an integral role in the well-being and safety of its community members. Team Omelanowitz is training hard and we need your help to support DEWC! Even a donation of $5 can provide a woman or child in need with a warm, nutritious meal.
