Help Colin raise money

This year I am participating in the Sporting Life 10K run in support of Camp Ooch. Camp Oochigeas (lovingly known as Ooch) provides children with and affected by childhood cancer with what they need most – the chance to be kids. The summer overnight camp in Muskoka as well as the year round programming offered at the Hospital for Sick Children provides opportunities for kids to explore enriching, challenging fun experiences no matter how debilitating their illness. This year we have decided to put our support behind ten year old Super Sophia. Last September, Sophia was diagnosed with multiple forms of leukemia and since that time has been at Sick Kids receiving life saving treatment with brief respites at Ronald Macdonald House. Through her aunt, we have been able to hear first hand the difference that Camp Ooch has made for Sophia throughout her stay at SickKids. Sophia suffered a great deal during the first few months of treatment, but she was always happy and excited when she was able to visit the Camp Ooch room on her hospital floor to make crafts, paint, draw, and play games with other children who were receiving similar treatment. Camp Ooch has played a big part in Sophia’s ongoing recovery, helping her be a happy creative little girl during a very scary and painful time. Sophia LOVES Camp Ooch and the great people who work there, and she is looking forward to going to their summer camp in August.
