For participating in Virtual ICP Walk/Run to Fight the Itch

My Story…

I am a surrogate who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and was diagnosed with cholestasis last minute. I knew I had ICP because my sister did and I had the exact same symptoms. I went to my doctor and was told it was normal itching. I didn’t believe it and kept fighting. After some time I was able to do the blood test for it and my levels were above 10, stating I had ICP. The doctors did the wrong test (a non-pregnancy BA test) so they continued to tell me I was wrong. After a long fight, months and months, I won. They finally saw my levels were rising and allowed me to be induced at 37 weeks. In the hospital, about to give birth, I was still being told that I didn’t have it even though 2 doctors finally agreed with me. It was a horrible situation. I’m lucky that I was able to deliver him alive and healthy. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to do that. I am determined to help raise awareness of this disease! Help me do it!
