Friends, I am participating in Ride4Diabetes event again to raise funds to combat a preventable debilitating epidemic called Diabetes. The economic cost of Diabetes in USA is staggering; 2017 numbers are below. Total Estimated cost $327 bil -- Direct Medical Costs $237 bil -- Lost Productivity $90 bil Avg. Med. Expense of a diabetic $16,750 /Year -- Attributable to Diabetes $9,600 /Year Affects 1 in every 11 Americans: 30 mil people Pre-diabetic & at risk of Type2 Diabetes: 84 mil people -- 90% of them don’t even know that. 277,000 Premature Deaths Due to Diabetes. Every 21 Sec, someone is diagnosed with Diabetes. A diagnosed person spends 2.3 times more than Avg. We can fight it by creating awareness, research, treat and get people into healthy habits.
