2.5 years ago I had the profound privilege to join VAST as our Exec Director. It has been a fascinating, beautiful, harsh, and highly productive time, and I have had the opportunity to work with such incredible survivors, colleagues, and partners. I am proud to be running for VAST on June 23rd.....except....I'm not running!! Although I've signed up here, i'll be out of the country for a work meeting, and my spot in the race will be taken by one of our phenomenal VAST community members. I am still here to ASK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR VAST. Please consider making a donation here in my honour, and in support of the essential work our team does with our inspiring community of survivors. I promise that I will hike a full marathon this summer for every $1000 that is raised. This means that if you all help me to raise $5000, I will be hiking 131 miles or 211 km. VAST supports refugees who arrive in British Columbia with psychological trauma resulting from torture, political violence, and other forms of persecution on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
